Program Overview
Seattle Central College offers an associate degree in nursing for students who wish to become licensed as a registered nurse. The Associate in Nursing DTA/MRP is our full-time, in-person program that simplifies the academic pathway for nursing students pursuing entry-level RN licensure, while also providing a seamless transition to a bachelor's degree in nursing through the DTA/MRP. Most students take a year of pre-requisite courses before entering the two-year program.

Nursing: Associate Degree in Nursing Direct Transfer Agreement - Major Related Program (DTA/MRP)
The Associate in Nursing DTA/MRP degree prepares students for the challenging career of being a registered nurse. The program is approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, and is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

Come join our Associate Degree Registered Nurse Program available at all three Seattle Colleges campuses. The program is run through Seattle Central College. You can select which campus to attend. Applications are accepted two times a year, for fall and winter quarters.
- The Winter 2026 application will open between July 21, 2025 to August 21, 2025.
- For the Fall quarter, the Seattle Colleges Nursing Program will admit students to two campuses only. The campuses will be determined at a later date.

Steps to Apply:
- Enroll as a student at Seattle Central College. Complete the 5-Step Enrollment Process, which includes placement testing and transcript evaluations to ensure you meet eligibility requirements.
- Apply for admission to the Associate in Nursing DTA/MRP program. Applications for fall quarter are in April, and for winter quarter, admissions are due in August.
- You must meet all entrance requirements for your application to be considered.

- Choose your campus of preference. This program runs through Seattle Central College and offers classes only at its co-locations. Students can choose to attend the Health Education Center in Beacon Hill, North Seattle College, or South Seattle College.
- Once accepted into the program, you will be notified of the next steps.
The mission and purpose of the nursing program is to provide quality education of students from a variety of backgrounds and circumstance. The program is founded on the faculty’s belief that graduates of the nursing program are well-prepared generalists, ready for entry-level practice as Registered Nurses in Washington State’s diverse healthcare environments. The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the nursing program: Associate degree program is under continuing accreditation with conditions for Good Cause for two years with a follow up report with a site visit in Fall 2025.

Seattle Central College's Nursing program is intended to meet the educational requirements for licensing/certification in the State of Washington only, nonetheless, it meets the educational requirements for lprofessional RN licensure in all 50 states and the following jurisdictions:
- District of Columbia
- Guam
- Northern Marietta Islands
- US Virgin Islands

- Have a valid and active Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification (NA-C). You can complete our NA-C program to qualify for the state certification.
- Complete the Test of Esential Academic Skills (TEAS) and achieve an overall Adjusted Individual Total Score of 75% or higher.
- It is highly recommended to attend a nursing information session before applying.
- Have your transcripts evaluated before applying if you have taken classes outside of Seattle Central College.
- Transcripts must be submitted along wiht an Incoming Transcript Evaluation Request Form to Seattle Central's Registration Office.
- Verification of completed transcript evaluation must be uploaded with the application.
